Compassion Class

 

The Compassion Class that was offered by that Adult Religious Education Committee (ARE) was, by far, the most success class that was offered in all of my years at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Silver Spring.

The class was suggested by a congregant a year before it was offered to the congregation.  The concept was discussed for months.  An exciting format was developed.  The Compassion Class would be co-led by Rev. Dr. Leon Dunkley and a congregant  whose gifts in this area are profound.  The class was to be held in 6 2-hour classes that would meet after church from Valentine's Day until the 20th of March in 2016. The format included a soup lunch, music, film, meditation and reflection.

Sixteen congregants preregistered.  More than thirty congregants showed.  We were hungry for this class.  It was advertised by a skit that we created.  [see following page or click here]
